Wool was a new raw material for textiles in the Bronze Age. By the late 3rd and early 2nd Millennium BC cuneiform records from Anatolia and Mesopotamia mention wooly sheep, distiguishing between several breeds of sheep. The earliest finds of wool textiles from Europe date from around this time. The map shows finds that have been dated by various methods to before c. 1600 BC.
The CinBA textile database will be made online in september 2013.
